Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in the sports function of Colvin College that society moves forward with inspiration from history, balanced use of discipline, education, sports and technology. Students were advised to stay away from confusion by staying focused on the goal.

Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that to move the society forward, it is necessary to take inspiration from the glorious moments of history. The mistakes made in history should be rectified in time. Where mistakes have been made, correction is necessary and moving forward by making good works the inspiration for life is the path to progress of the society.

He said that India has preserved its rich traditions through festivals. Politics continued to do its work, but the kings, princes and leaders of the society always played a positive role in the preservation and promotion of culture. Chief Minister Yogi was addressing students, teachers and parents at the closing ceremony of the 134th annual sports competition organized at Colvin Talukedars College on Tuesday.

Discipline and patriotism shown in the march past

Praising the march past, Chief Minister Yogi said that seeing the discipline, spirit of walking step by step and dedication of the students, it seemed as if the youth of Azad Hind Fauj were moving forward to serve the country on the call of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He said that such events strengthen discipline, self-confidence and patriotism among the students.

Tribute paid to former president of the organization Kunwar Anand Singh

On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi paid humble tribute to former college president Kunwar Anand Singh. He said that there were several discussions with him regarding the development and upgradation of the institution. Today he is not physically among us, but his memories will always guide us.

Important role of educational institutions in uniting the society

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that elements that break the society are present all the time, but it is the responsibility of educational institutions to unite the society. He said that when this college was established in the year 1889, the circumstances of the country were very difficult. After the freedom struggle of 1857, slavery was considered permanent, but in the same period, ideas like Vande Mataram revived the consciousness of independence.

Vande Mataram: Inspiration for the freedom movement

Chief Minister Yogi said that Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay gave a timeless creation like Vande Mataram through his novel Anandamath. After Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore gave voice to it from the platform of Congress in the year 1896, it became the inspiring mantra of the freedom movement.

Chief Minister Yogi appreciated the house system created by Colvin Talukedars College in the names of historical places like Ajanta, Nalanda, Takshashila, Sanchi and Ujjain. He said-

  • Takshashila was one of the oldest universities in the world
  • Nalanda was the center of knowledge and research
  • Ujjain was famous for astronomy and justice system.
  • The architecture of Ajanta and Sanchi still reflects the cultural height of India.

Chief Minister Yogi said that the celebration of Lord Shri Ram’s return to Ayodhya is no longer limited to Ayodhya only, but the entire country has adopted it as Diwali. Holi became a festival of social equality, while festivals like Ramnavami, Janmashtami, Shivratri and Rakshabandhan worked to unite the society. Our ancestors preserved these festivals as traditions and passed them on to generations.

Chief Minister Yogi said that in the last 11 years, sports culture has been promoted through Khelo India, Fit India and MP sports competitions. There should be a playground and stadium in every village. He talked about adopting open air gym and regular physical activity.

Chief Minister Yogi said that we are entering a new era of technology. Technology should be our carrier, we should not be the carrier of technology. He pointed out the need to be aware of the opportunities available in areas like AI, drones and robotics and stay updated with global developments.

Chief Minister Yogi said that some people spread confusion in the society. One should stay away from such people and concentrate on one’s goals. Instead of being afraid of defeat, learning from it and moving forward is the path to success.

In the program, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored the excellent performing students by giving them cups and shields. The honored students included Dinesh Pratap Singh, Pranjal Tripathi, Devraj Singh Patel, Ayushi Singh and Sarthak Tripathi. On this occasion, the band of 11 Gorkha Rifles saluted the Chief Minister through a parade. Many public representatives, teachers, students and parents including Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh were present in the program.
