IPL 2025: On Thursday i.e. 31st October, all the teams have released their retention list for the Indian Premier League 2025. While releasing the retention list, RCB has retained Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal. The team has released captain Faf Du Plessis.
From which it is clear that the team will continue to search for a new captain. There are reports that the franchise had offered captaincy to Virat but he rejected it, however, the coach of the franchise, Andy Flower, said something which made it clear that Virat can take over the command of RCB once again.
RCB released retention list
Let us tell you that all the teams have released their retention list on the evening of Thursday i.e. 31st October, which includes the names of those players whom the team wants to keep with them in the next season. Royal Challengers Bangalore has named Virat Kohli at the first place in this list. At the second place, the franchise has kept batsman Rajat Patidar, after that the next name of the team is bowler Yash Dayal.
Will Virat be the captain of RCB once again?
The name of franchise captain Faf du Plessis is not included in the released retention list of RCB, after which RCB has given a direct message about the new captain. After the release of Faf, the news of Virat becoming the captain of RCB has intensified. Reports were coming that the franchise had offered Virat to become the captain but King had refused that offer.
But after the retention, RCB head coach Andy Flower said, “Virat is a role model and a very good player. He is a leader who took the team to the playoffs in the last IPL season 2024. We will need his leadership in the upcoming IPL season i.e. IPL 2025.”
