Artificial Intelligence aka AI sector is developing rapidly. Many countries globally are working towards AI, recently a report from GitHub has revealed that India has secured the second position in terms of Generative AI. GitHub has recently said that the number of Indian developers on the platform has crossed the figure of 17 million by 2024, increasing by 28 percent.
Indian developers are continuously working towards AI, due to which India has also been included in the list of top 10 fastest growing developer community in the world. GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke has recently shared a list of top 10 countries on X (Twitter) account which are on top in terms of AI.
In this list, countries like United States (US) are included at first position, India at second position, Hong Kong at third position, China at fourth position and Germany at fifth position. One thing is clear from this graph that India is also a global leader in terms of generative AI projects because India has made its place in the top 10.
India will overtake America also
The 2024 Edition of GitHub Octoverse report revealed that Indian developers and companies are prioritizing testing results in 2024 as compared to 2023. Of course, India currently ranks second in terms of generative AI, but GitHub estimates that India can overtake America by 2028.
India’s developers have gone a leap further: they’re increasingly using AI to build AI. India has the second-highest number of contributors to public generative AI projects.

If this happens then India will become the largest developer community in the world. India is at the second position, one thing is clear from this that developers in India are putting their full strength in AI. These efforts of developers are shaping the future of software and directly influencing innovation globally.
