The general body meeting of Chhattisgarh Social Audit Unit was held at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan in Raipur. In the meeting, emphasis was laid on transparency, accountability and public participation in social audit.
Raipur, June 30, 2026/The meeting of the General Assembly of Chhattisgarh Social Audit Unit was held here today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Vikassheel. In the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that special emphasis should be laid on transparency and accountability in social audit. The Chief Secretary directed that the objections received during the social audit should be resolved immediately, clause wise. The Chief Secretary said that public participation should be encouraged in social audit. He said that social audit plays an important role in empowering the Gram Sabha.
Detailed discussion on annual action plan
The Chief Secretary said that it is mandatory for all the District Collectors of the State to submit audit reports in the Gram Sabhas. The annual action plan presented by the Social Audit Unit for the financial year 2026-27 was discussed in detail in the meeting. This year, emphasis was laid on conducting social audit of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, rural and national social assistance programs in all the gram panchayats of the state.
Social Audit Innovation and Quality Program
In the meeting, the progress of social audit work done so far in the financial year 2024-25 to 2025-26 was reviewed. The action plan and budget for the year 2026-27 were also approved. The creation of a social audit unit was discussed in detail in the meeting. There was also discussion about innovation in social audit work and cooperation of development agency for quality program implementation. In the meeting, there was a detailed discussion regarding determination of fixed development fund from other schemes for the expansion of the social audit unit.
Discussion on proposal to fill editing posts of social audit works
In the meeting, the proposal of assimilating the provision of social audit in the revised new scheme VBGiramji to MNREGA scheme was reviewed and discussed in detail. In the meeting, after discussing the proposal of necessary rules to fill various posts as per rules for carrying out the work of social audit of other schemes including Mahatma Gandhi NREGA under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, the proposal was approved.
