Even though the number of passengers may be more at Howrah station, but when it comes to the center connecting North, South, East and West, the name of Mathura Junction comes first.

Mathura Junction directly or partially connects many states and major cities. Trains are available here for many cities of North India like Delhi, Jammu, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Trains are also available from here for other states of East India like Bihar, Odisha.
Mathura Junction is more than 100 years old.
Trains from west to south and central India pass through here. Trains going to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Madhya Pradesh also pass through Mathura. Apart from this, trains to Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh of South India pass through here.

Mathura Junction is counted among the old and important railway stations of the country. Mathura Junction was officially established in 1904. That means this station is more than 120 years old. The first train ran in Mathura region in 1875. This train had left when the Hath Road-Mathura Cantt line was started.
