According to reports, Zaker suffered a head injury, due to which he will not be able to play in the second test due to concussion problem. The last match of the Test series between Bangladesh and South Africa is starting from Tuesday 29 October.

Debut in last test, now got head injury

26-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Zaker Ali made his debut in the first match of the Bangladesh-South Africa Test series. Test cricket had started well for Zaker, who had already played 19 T20 matches for Bangladesh. In the first innings of this match played in Mirpur, he was out after scoring only 2 runs where the entire team was bundled out for only 106 runs. In the second innings, Zaker scored 58 runs and helped the team reach a big score. However, even this was not enough for the team to win and Bangladesh had to face defeat.

Zaker was scheduled to play in the second match also but he got injured before that. According to the report, Zaker got injured during the team’s practice session on Sunday 27 October, two days before the match. The physio of the Bangladesh team told that Zaker was hit on the head by a ball while batting in the nets, due to which he had to leave the practice. The physio also told that Zaker has a chronic problem of concussion and he has been struggling with it earlier also. In such a situation, it will take time for him to recover from this, due to which the decision was taken to drop Zaker from the next test.

Mahidul Islam Ankon has been included in Bangladesh’s squad in place of Zaker. This 25 year old wicketkeeper batsman has not yet made his international debut. In such a situation, eyes will be on whether he will make his debut in the next test or not. Currently, Bangladesh does not need a wicketkeeper because in the first test too, not Zaker but Liton Das took up this responsibility. In such a situation, Bangladeshi team can also give a chance to an experienced batsman in the playing eleven. Mahidul has played 43 first class matches, in which he has scored 1934 runs at an average of 30.
