Rajat Patidar Records: Royal Challengers Bangalore has once again made it to the finals of IPL (IPL 2026). This will be only the fifth final of Bengaluru, one of the most popular teams in IPL history. But the most important thing is that for the first time the team will play its second consecutive final and this time it will defend its title as the current champion. Team captain Rajat Patidar is playing the biggest role in changing the fortunes of Bengaluru, who played a record inning of 93 runs in Qualifier-1 and created history for RCB by leading the team to victory.

New record for fastest innings in IPL

After a good start in Qualifier-1 against Gujarat Titans Bengaluru When the situation seemed difficult, captain Rajat Patidar came and not only took charge of the team but also turned the tables by batting brilliantly. Patidar played an unbeaten inning of 93 runs in just 33 balls, which included 9 sixes and 5 fours. As special as the sixes and fours in this innings were, the use of every ball was equally special. In his entire innings, Patidar could not score runs with his bat on just one ball, but in that too, RCB got a bye.

That is, if seen, not a single ball was lost in Patidar’s 33-ball innings. Not only this, Patidar also broke an explosive record of young superstar Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Vaibhav had played an astonishing inning of 103 runs in just 37 balls this season. Patidar could not score a century but he definitely broke a record of Vaibhav. Actually, the strike rate of the RCB captain’s innings was 281.81, whereas in Vaibhav’s innings it was 278.37. In this way, Rajat Patidar set a record in IPL history by playing the fastest inning of more than 90 runs.

Rajat’s records and history in captaincy

Apart from this, this is also a new record for the biggest innings of any captain in the playoffs in IPL history. Patidar’s captaincy is the other aspect that makes him the gold standard for RCB. It was only the last season when Rajat Patidar was made the captain of RCB and in the very first season itself, he made RCB the IPL champion for the first time, ending the 18-year long wait. This one success gave him the most special place in the history of RCB forever.

But now Patidar has added another chapter to this success. He has become the fifth overall captain in IPL and the first captain of Bengaluru, who has taken his team to the finals twice in a row. Now Patidar can do something which only MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma have been able to do – win the title twice in a row. If Rajat Patidar is successful in this, then he will be counted among the most successful captains not only in RCB but also in IPL history.
