Punjab: The biggest consignment of drugs came from Pakistan, 105 kg heroin seized for the first time in Amritsar.

A huge consignment of drugs has reached Punjab through Pakistan border. Punjab Police has recovered 105 kg heroin and 31.93 kg caffeine anhydrous besides 17 kg DMR from this consignment. The police have intensified the raid to recover the remaining goods. According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, caffeine anhydrous and DMR are used to increase the quantity and intensity of heroin four times. He has claimed that Turkey-based drug smuggler Navpreet Singh alias is behind supplying this consignment to India. Nav Bhullar may have a hand in it.

DGP said that at present a special campaign is being run against drugs in the state. In this sequence, Amritsar police team got information about this consignment. He told that on this information the police raided and recovered the biggest consignment ever received in the state. Along with this consignment, the police have also arrested two associates of drug smuggler Navpreet Singh alias Nav Bhullar. Police have also recovered five foreign pistols and one country made pistol from them. The arrested smugglers have been identified as Navjot Singh, resident of Baba Bakala Amritsar and Lovepreet Kumar, resident of Kala Sanghiya, Kapurthala.

Caffeine anhydrous and dextromethorphan also recovered.

According to the DGP, during the search of these two drug smugglers, 31.93 kg of caffeine anhydrous and 17 kg of Dextromethorphan (DMR) and many other banned drugs were also recovered from their possession. The accused told during police interrogation that these banned drugs are used to increase the quantity and intensity of heroin by four times. Many times, overdose of these medicines results in death. According to the DGP, efforts are being made to effectively stop the drug trade across the state.

Intelligence had received input

Counter Intelligence (CI) has been deployed for this. On Saturday, the Amritsar unit of CI had received information that Navpreet Singh alias Nav Bhullar, sitting in Pakistan, had got a huge consignment of drugs crossed the border through his associates. On this input, the CI team swung into action with the help of the local police. A rented house located at Colony Lady Road, Baba Bakala was raided.

Police busy in checking the route chain

During this raid conducted under the supervision of DSP CI Amritsar Balbir Singh, both the accused Navjot Singh and Lovepreet Kumar were arrested. Police have also seized his Volkswagen Virtus car. After interrogating these accused, the police has started investigating the route chain of this drug consignment. The police is trying to find out by what means such a huge consignment reached across the border and from here to where this consignment was to be supplied.
