In Barmer, students protested against Collector Tina Dabi against the fee hike. The students accused him of not meeting them and getting them arrested. Dabi rejected these allegations and said that no arrests had been made.
Jaipur: Protests took place against Barmer Collector Tina Dabi for refusing to meet the students protesting against the fee hike. The students described the collector as a ‘reel star’. The students allege that the Collector is only interested in those programs which get coverage in the media and is not at all serious about the problems of the students.
Students of Rajasthan University were protesting against the fee increase. Students were sitting on strike in Maharana Bhupal College of Barmer demanding withdrawal of the increase in examination fees. The students say that Collector Tina Dabi was not only not ready to meet them, but also got them arrested.
On this matter, Tina Dabi said that there was no need for the Collector’s intervention in this. The Tehsildar and Additional District Magistrate have already talked to the students. Tina Dabi also told that the Vice-Chancellor has assured the students to withdraw the fee increase. But, the students alleged that the Collector did not meet them because she is a ‘reel star’. The students said that they are interested only in those programs where media cameras are present. The students also alleged that the district administration had given instructions to arrest them.
What did Tina Dabi say?
Tina Dabi told that when this incident happened, she was in a medical college program. Some students had blocked the road. In case of obstruction in traffic, it is a normal procedure to take the matter to the police station and resolve the matter. The Collector said that no arrests have been made.
Tina Dabi asked, “Can anyone show the video of students being forcibly taken away, misbehaving with them or any evidence of their arrest?” He also said that the students are making false allegations just to go viral for a few moments. Tina Dabi is a 2015 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre. He had secured first rank in UPSC examination. His personal and professional life often remains in the headlines.
