This year has been very special for Team India’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. He has scored a lot of runs in the Test format and has also become an important batsman of the Indian team. Even in the last innings of the second test match against New Zealand, Yashasvi Jaiswal showed an amazing performance. He managed to score a half-century. During this innings, Jaiswal also broke a 45 year old record. He went ahead of all the Indian batsmen in a special list. He accomplished a feat which even Virat Kohli has not been able to do till now in his career.
Jaiswal created history in test
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 77 runs on 65 balls in the last innings of the Pune Test match against New Zealand. During this innings, 9 fours and 3 sixes were seen from Jaiswal’s bat. With this he also completed his 1000 test runs in India this year. Jaiswal has become the second Indian batsman to touch the figure of 1000 runs in a calendar year at home. Earlier this feat was done by Gundappa Vishwanath in 1979. Gundappa Vishwanath was till now the batsman who scored the most Test runs in a calendar year at home for India, but Jaiswal has gone ahead of him.
Gundappa Vishwanath had scored 1047 runs at home in 1979. At the same time, Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored 1056 test runs in India this year. Whereas, Virat Kohli is at third place in this list with 964 runs. He did this feat in the year 2016. But Yashasvi Jaiswal has gone ahead of all the star batsmen of India.
Made my place in this special club
Yashasvi Jaiswal is the sixth player in the world to score 1000+ runs in domestic test matches in a calendar year. Before this, only Michael Clarke, Mohammad Yousuf, Graham Gooch, Gundappa Vishwanath and Justin Langer could do this. At the same time, Michael Clarke leads the list by scoring 1407 runs at home in a calendar year. Let us tell you, Team India now has to play only 1 more test match at home this year. In such a situation, it is going to be very difficult for Yashasvi Jaiswal to reach the top in this list.
