Black trade of Bengal’s silver in Bihar, when the police reached the hotel, their eyes remained wide open.

With the arrival of Diwali, smuggling of silver has increased rapidly in Bihar. Smugglers are coming to Bihar illegally with consignments of silver and are consuming them here in collusion with jewelery traders. One such case has come to light in Katihar. Here the police raided a hotel and arrested four smugglers. Police have recovered silver worth about Rs 70 to 80 lakh from them. These smugglers were preparing to embezzle the silver on the occasion of Dhanteras.

According to Katihar Police, two days ago there was information about a big silver deal in the city. In this sequence, information was received that some people were staying in a hotel in the city with a large quantity of jewelery in a bag. On this information, the police formed a team and raided the old hotel located on Rajendra Prasad Road. During this time four people were staying in a room. On the basis of suspicion, the police took them into custody and interrogated them. After this, his bag was searched and a consignment of 66.195 kg of silver was found in it.

The price of silver is 70 to 80 lakh rupees

The silver recovered from the accused was in the form of jewellery. According to the police, the estimated value of this jewelery in the open market has been estimated at around Rs 70 to 80 lakh. The accused told during police interrogation that the consignment of silver had reached Katihar in Bihar from Nadia in West Bengal and there was a plan to dispose of it in collaboration with local jewelery traders. The police asked the accused for documents containing such a large amount of silver, but the accused could not show these documents.

All four accused are residents of Nadia.

According to Sadar DSP Abhijeet Kumar, the arrested smugglers have been identified as Sanu Vishwas, Gautam Vishwas, Vijay Vishwas and Ajit Ghosh, residents of Halalpur in Dhantala police station area of ​​Nadia district of Bengal. During police interrogation, the accused have also revealed the names of local traders who do illegal business of gold and silver jewellery. Along with arresting the accused, the police have started further investigation in this case. Income Tax and GST Department has also been informed in this matter.
