A big controversy has come to light regarding the PhD recruitment process in BHU. 13 researchers of the History Department started a protest outside the central office, alleging irregularities and discrimination.

Varanasi. Kashi Hindu University (BHU), one of the prestigious educational institutions of the country, is once again in the news regarding the student movement. This time the matter is related to the PhD recruitment process, where 13 research students of the History Department have sat on strike outside the central office, alleging irregularities and discrimination. The students say that they are being treated unfairly by the university administration, leaving their academic future hanging in the balance.

Admission in main campus, but preparation to send to college

The researchers sitting on the dharna told that during their admission in PhD, they were admitted in the history department of the main campus of BHU. At the same time, the fees were deposited in the main campus itself and all the necessary documents were also collected in the central office. Despite this, now the department has started the process of sending them to affiliated colleges.

Allegations of discrimination and violation of reservation rules

The students allege that this entire process is not only misleading but also violates the reservation rules. He says that the conditions which were there at the time of selection are now being changed, which is against the principle of social justice and equal opportunity.

Claims to have been visiting offices for ten months

The researchers said that for the last ten months they have been making rounds of the department, Departmental Research Committee (DRC) and administrative offices. Every time they get assurance, but no permanent solution to the problem is found. Due to this they are mentally disturbed and consider themselves victims of exploitation.

Lack of facilities in affiliated colleges

Students say that the colleges where they are being asked to shift have neither adequate library facilities nor the necessary academic environment for research. Apart from this, the status of scholarship and other educational resources is also not satisfactory, due to which their research work may be affected.

Accusation of neglect on administration

The protesting students alleged that they had given written complaints to the university administration several times regarding their demands and also met the officials personally, but no concrete steps have been taken till now.

Warning to continue agitation until demands are met

The researchers have clearly said that their protest will continue until they are allowed to do research work in the main campus and there is no impartial investigation into the alleged discrimination against them. The protest continued outside the central office till late night, due to which a tense atmosphere was created in the BHU campus. Now all eyes are on the next decision of the university administration.
