A cow ran towards Yogi Adityanath’s car in Gorakhpur. Considering it a security lapse, a municipal corporation supervisor has been suspended on charges of negligence. Officials have ordered to tighten the system to prevent such incidents in future.
Lucknow: A cow ran towards Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The incident happened when he was getting down from his car. The security personnel immediately stopped the cow from reaching the Chief Minister. In this case, a Municipal Corporation supervisor of Gorakhpur has been suspended citing security lapse in the Chief Minister’s program. The incident occurred on Friday evening when the Chief Minister had arrived to inaugurate the Gorakhnath Overbridge in Gorakhpur Municipality. After its video surfaced on Sunday, officials ordered an investigation and suspended a municipal corporation supervisor. MP Ravi Kishan was the first to get down from the car. When the Chief Minister came after him, the security officials saw a cow coming near the car and stopped it and drove it away. After this, Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal ordered an investigation as to how the animal broke the security cordon and came inside.
Initial investigation found negligence on the part of Municipal Corporation Supervisor Arvind Kumar. Kumar was responsible for monitoring civil order in the area. Sogarwal said that no lapse in VVIP security will be allowed and arrangements will be reviewed and tightened to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
Opposition leaders including Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav have often been raising the issue of stray animals in Uttar Pradesh. On December 2, during the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 event at Namo Ghat in Varanasi, an intoxicated man broke through Adityanath’s security cordon and reached the stage. This person, who is said to be mentally ill, was caught by the commandos of the Chief Minister’s security squad.
