Basant Panchami 2026 Puja Subh Muhurat

On the day of Basant Panchami, the auspicious time of worship of Goddess Saraswati will start at 7.13 am. This auspicious time of Saraswati Puja will last till 12.33 pm on this day. During this time, Goddess Saraswati can be worshipped.

Basant Panchami Puja Vidhi

Take bath in the morning on Basant Panchami. Wear yellow clothes on this day. Clean the place of worship. Spread a yellow cloth on the puja platform and place the idol of Mother Saraswati. Also keep the idol of Lord Ganesha. Keep an urn filled with water on the right side of the altar. Include yellow things in puja. Children should keep their books, pens etc. at the feet of their mother and worship her too. Offer yellow rice, boondi laddus and saffron halwa to Goddess Saraswati. During the puja, chant the mantra “Om Aim Saraswatyai Namah” 108 times. Finally, complete the puja by performing aarti and distribute prasad.

Significance of Basant Panchami

According to mythology, Goddess Saraswati appeared from the mouth of Lord Brahma on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Magh month. The darkness of ignorance that was spread in the world went away as soon as the Goddess appeared. This day is also called ‘Abujh Muhurta’. On this day there is no need to consult the almanac for marriage, mundan or housewarming.
