Yogi government has expanded Shakti Sadan scheme to 11 districts under Mission Shakti. Through 14 Shakti Sadans, women affected by domestic violence and distress are being provided safe shelter, counseling and rehabilitation facilities.

The Yogi Adityanath government is rapidly implementing the Shakti Sadan scheme under the Mission Shakti Abhiyan with the aim of strengthening the safety, protection and rehabilitation of women. Under the sub-scheme ‘Samarthya’ of Mission Shakti, the system of Shakti Sadan has now been extended to 11 districts of the state. Through these centres, safe shelter is being provided to women going through domestic violence, family disputes and other distressful situations.
Arrangement of safe shelter for distressed women
A total of 14 Shakti Sadans are being operated in the state under the Shakti Sadan scheme. In these centres, temporary security and protection is being provided to women suffering from domestic violence, trapped in family crisis, lost, released from jail and facing other adverse situations. At present, women in distress in Mirzapur, Saharanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Chitrakoot, Gonda and Basti are getting safe shelter through these Shakti Sadans.
One each in 10 districts, four Shakti Sadans in Mathura
Under the scheme, one Shakti Sadan each has been established in Aligarh, Azamgarh, Kanpur Nagar, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Gonda, Basti, Mirzapur, Varanasi and Saharanpur districts. Four Shakti Sadans are being operated in Mathura district. The capacity of each Shakti Sadan has been fixed at 50 women, so that maximum number of needy women can be provided assistance.
Received financial support from central and state government
For the effective implementation of Shakti Sadan Scheme, the first installment of Rs 1 crore 75 lakh has been released by the Central and State Government. This amount has been given for the processes related to building arrangements, operations and necessary resources at the administrative level. The government is ensuring that there is no shortage of resources at any level in the operation of Shakti Sadans.
Active arrangements in 11 districts, special emphasis on rehabilitation
The government is providing all necessary financial and administrative facilities for the smooth operation of Shakti Sadan Scheme. The women living here are given mental and social support through counseling and guidance. They are also motivated to rehabilitate themselves in the family, so that they can live a normal life with dignity and security.
Women’s safety and respect is the top priority of the government
Yogi Adityanath government clearly believes that the safety, respect and empowerment of women is the responsibility of the society. Schemes like Shakti Sadan show that the government is serious and sensitive towards women’s welfare. Through Mission Shakti, policies related to women protection and rehabilitation are being effectively implemented at the grassroots level in the state.
