Maya Devi of Firozabad got a permanent house under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme (Rural). Maya Devi, who was forced to live in a slum after becoming a widow, got the benefits of housing, MNREGA wages and Ujjwala scheme, which brought positive changes in her life.

Firozabad. Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is extending the benefits of government schemes to the last person of the society under the resolution of Antyodaya. The story of Maya Devi, a resident of Gram Panchayat Asua of Shikohabad development block of Firozabad district, is a strong example of this resolution.

Life became difficult after husband’s death

After the sudden death of her husband, Maya Devi’s life was filled with struggles. His biggest problem was raising two small children and not having a permanent house to live in. She was forced to live in a mud hut made of tarpaulin with her children. It was extremely difficult to live there in the rainy and cold weather. Besides, there was always concern about the safety of children.

Chief Minister Housing Scheme becomes support for destitute women

When Maya Devi got information that the Yogi government was giving housing to widows and destitute women on priority basis, she applied under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (Rural). He was found eligible in the eligibility survey and his house was approved under the scheme.

The government sent a total assistance amount of Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand for housing construction in three installments directly to his bank account-

  • First installment: Rs 40,000
  • Second installment: Rs 70,000
  • Third installment: Rs 10,000

Also got benefit from MNREGA and Ujjwala scheme

Along with the construction of the house, Maya Devi also got additional assistance of Rs 22,680 in the form of 90 days’ wages under MNREGA. With this financial support she was able to build her house with dignity. Apart from this, Maya Devi also got the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which provided gas connection to her house. Today her permanent house is completely ready, where she is living a safe life with her children.

Big change in Maya Devi’s life due to schemes

District Magistrate Ramesh Ranjan said that the objective of Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (Rural) is to connect the most needy and deprived section of the society with the mainstream. Eligible women like Maya Devi are being given the benefits of housing, Ujjwala scheme and MNREGA wages on priority basis. He said that as per the instructions of the government, it is being ensured that no eligible person remains homeless in the district. This positive change in the life of Maya Devi is a matter of satisfaction for the administration as well.

A safe and respectable life can be achieved through a permanent home.

Today Maya Devi is leaving behind her difficult past and moving towards a better future. Expressing his gratitude towards Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said that his children have got a safe and good environment for education through a permanent house.

He said that now there is no fear of rain, no cold and no worry of insecurity. The government has not only given them a house but also given them an opportunity to live with dignity. His story shows that sensitive government policies can bring lasting change to the lives of those in need.
