Gujarat SIR Voter List: After special intensive revision in Gujarat, the Election Commission released the new draft voter list on Friday. According to this, names of about 73.73 lakh voters have been removed from the voter list under SIR in Gujarat. Earlier, more than 5.08 crore voters were registered in the state, which has now reduced to 4.34 crore. The Election Commission says that if any voter’s name is not in the draft list, he can raise objection till January 18, 2026. The final list will be released after all the claims and objections.
SIR figures in Gujarat: a look
In Gujarat, the number of voters who left their place and shifted to another place was 51.86 lakh i.e. 10.20% of the total voters. At the same time, the number of voters registered at more than one place was 3,81,470 lakh. Apart from this, 18,07,278 lakh (3.55%) voters were found who are no more in this world. After the publication of this list, the total number of registered voters in Gujarat has now come down to 4,34,70,109.
Final list will come on 17th February
In Gujarat, voters who want to lodge claims and objections after SIR can do so till January 18. After this, the final stage work will be completed by 10 February and the final will be released by 17 February 2026. According to the state’s Chief Electoral Officer Harit Shukla, 50963 BLOs, 54443 BLAs and 30833 volunteers worked to complete the SIR process.
Young voters of 18 years can apply
Political parties have been appealed to check the voter list closely and, if necessary, assist voters in filing claims and objections by 18 February 2026.
- Youth of 18 years can apply for voter registration.
- Young citizens who will turn 18 on January 1, 2026, can apply to be included in the final voter list by filling Form 6.
- The final voter list will be published on February 17, 2026. The draft voter list is available at all polling stations and designated places. It can also be viewed online on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer ceo.gujarat.gov.in.
