As soon as the information was received, Dimapur police and railway officials reached the spot in the night itself. The Thar stuck on the track was removed safely, due to which a major accident was averted. Officials said there was no damage to railway property or passengers. 65-year-old Thefunituo, resident of Dimapur Signal Angami, has been arrested by the police in connection with this incident.

A case has been registered against him for rash driving and breaking railway safety rules. The vehicle and driver are in the custody of Railway Protection Force (RPF). The PRO said preliminary investigation has found serious negligence and violation of traffic and railway rules.

Demand to cancel license

Officials reminded that entering railway tracks without permission is a serious offense and poses a great threat to human life and the railway system. Many people opined in the comments that the government should cancel the licenses of such drivers and take strict action. Some people also said that the vehicle should be seized and a heavy fine should be imposed, otherwise more such incidents may happen in future.
