Varanasi News: Strict rules implemented for tourists visiting Varanasi on New Year. Challan of ₹ 50 to ₹ 500 for littering, spitting paan and open defecation and FIR for non-compliance. Municipal Corporation started 116 yellow spots and CCTV surveillance.

Varanasi Municipal Corporation has adopted a strict stance regarding cleanliness. Now complete preparations have been made to register not only challan but also FIR against those spreading filth in the city.
Strict rules for clean Kashi
Every year lakhs of tourists come to Kashi, the city of religion and spirituality. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi became MP, the cleanliness campaign started from Assi Ghat is now being carried forward with more vigor. The aim of the Municipal Corporation is that every tourist returning from Kashi should take back a clean image of the city.

More than 116 yellow spots, monitoring everywhere
The Municipal Corporation has identified more than 116 yellow spots in the city, where special vigil is being kept on those causing litter. Health officers and supervisors are deployed at these places, who are processing challans on the spot. Till now more than 150 people have been challaned.
24 hour surveillance is being done through CCTV
The Municipal Corporation has intensified surveillance in public places through CCTV cameras. As soon as information about littering is received, instructions are given to the concerned health officer through WhatsApp to take immediate action.
Public awareness team in the field
The Public Awareness (IC) team of the Municipal Corporation is continuously running campaigns. According to Sandeep Srivastava, Public Relations Officer of the Municipal Corporation, strict steps have been taken to ban activities like urinating in public places, open defecation and spitting after eating paan. Such people are being explained on the spot and fines are also being imposed.
Spitting betel leaves and open defecation will be costly.
The Municipal Corporation has clarified that there is a provision of fine on those who spread filth after consuming betel leaf and those who defecate in the open. This campaign will be implemented further in a more effective manner, so that diseases are stopped and common people do not face problems.
Challan ranging from ₹50 to ₹500, if not accepted then FIR
Sandeep Srivastava said that challan of ₹ 50 to ₹ 500 is being issued for littering. If any person does not follow the rules and opposes the action, an FIR will also be registered against him.
The Municipal Corporation has appealed to the tourists coming to Varanasi on New Year to cooperate in maintaining the cleanliness of the city. A little carelessness can not only be heavy on your pocket, but you may also have to face legal action.
