Santan Saptami is the day when women pray for the long life and good health of their children. This day typically falls on the Shukla Paksh Saptami of Bhadrapad mnth.
It is said that if one fasts on this day, one’s wish around their children’s health gets fulfilled. The day is dedicated to the worship of lord Surya and Santan Gopal. This year the day will be observed on August 30.

Rituals:
One must wake up in the wee hours of morning, take a holy bath and offer Arghya to lord Sun.
One must chant mantras on this day to pray for the well-being and fortune of one’s children.
On this day, one must keep fast and also listen to Santan Saptami Katha to attract blessings one’s way.
Prasad must also be prepared on this day and distributed to pray of the well-being of one’s children.
There’s also a udhyapan ritual. If a child marriage is performed the same year, then a devotee must prepare 13 sweet bajra pooris, place a 1 rs coin in the plate and also keep a saree. One must offer these things to an elderly woman in the family to seek her blessings.

By keeping this vrat, negative influences are removed from a child’s life. It is believed that mothers who keep this fast with faith and devotion will be able to safeguard their child and ensure overall happiness and prosperity in the family.
