Reddy paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the inspiration site in the Parliament complex before filling the nomination. He filed nominations in four sets, in which 20 leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge became the proposer.

Sudarshan Reddy hails from Andhra Pradesh

79 -year -old Reddy hails from Andhra Pradesh. He has been the Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court and the first Lokayukta of Goa. In 2007, he was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court. Now direct competition for the post of Vice President Reddy and NDA candidate C.P. Will be between Radhakrishnan. The special thing is that both the candidates are from South India.

Voting will be held on 9 September

Voting for the post of Vice President will be held on 9 September and the results will also come on the same day. The last date for filing nomination is 21 August, while candidates can withdraw the name by 25 August. This election is being held after the sudden resignation of the current Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Dhankhar’s term was till 2027 but resigned from his post on July 21.
