Employee future fund organization
Almost every employee working in India has a provident fund (PF) account. It is handled by Employees Provident Fund Organization i.e. EPFO. Now EPFO has given a big relief to the families of its members. Earlier, if a PF member died, then the family used to get 8.8 lakh rupees under Death Relief. But now this amount has been increased to Rs 15 lakh. The new system has been implemented from the back date i.e. 1 April 2025. Meaning if an employee has died this date or after this, then his family will get ₹ 15 lakh instead of ₹ 8.8 lakh. The decision has also been approved by the EPFO’s largest board, Central Board of Trustee, which includes representatives of the government, employer and employees.
X-Grasia amount will increase every year
This amount will not be done only once. EPFO has also decided that this X-Grasia will increase by 5 % every year, starting from 1 April 2026. This will continue to increase the financial help to families over time. This news is especially good for those families who face economic problems after losing their family members. EPFO has decided to further strengthen help for families keeping this in mind.
Claim procedure for minor children was easy
Another necessary change is that if a PF member dies and money is to go to the account of his minor children, then it will not require a parentship certificate. This will now make it much easier to claim money for minor children. Earlier, due to the parent certificate, the claim was delayed and families had trouble. Now by removing this rule, money will be available quickly and families will get relief.
Financial security of families will be strong
This step has been taken by the EPFO to strengthen the economic security of the families of the employees. The increase of Rs 15 lakh and then an increase of 5 percent annually will now help families. Also, it will be easy to get money on time by improving the claim process.
