A man stabbed his wife to death in Karkardooma, Delhi. He had come to Delhi from Lucknow to commit this crime. The motive for the murder was suspicion of the wife having an affair. The police have arrested the accused.
A 35-year-old man has been arrested for stabbing his wife to death in Karkardooma area of Delhi. Police said that accused Anuj Joshi had come to Delhi from Lucknow to commit this crime. He carried out this incident in the early hours of Sunday. According to India Today report, 30-year-old victim Sonam Joshi was staying at her sister-in-law’s house for the last few days.
Many knife marks found on woman’s body
According to the police, on June 28, a PCR call was received in which it was informed that a woman was lying soaked in blood inside a room in Karkardooma. When the police team reached the spot, they saw that Sonam had several knife wounds on her body. He was declared dead on the spot. Senior police officers, along with crime and forensic teams, reached the house and collected evidence. Later the body was sent for postmortem. Police said that Sonam was originally from Lucknow and was working as a domestic help in Noida before this incident.
Police claim- murder was done with complete planning
During investigation, the police came to know that Anuj had planned the murder even before leaving Lucknow. According to investigators, he bought a knife in Lucknow itself and came to Delhi by bus. Police said that he reached Karkardooma around 5.40 am on June 28 and entered the room where Sonam was sleeping. It is alleged that he stabbed Sonam several times with a knife and then, in an attempt to destroy the evidence, hid the knife in a plastic bag. Later, based on information received from the accused, investigators recovered the weapon used in the murder.
Arrested a few hours after the incident
Police said that with the help of local people and family members, Anuj was caught within a few hours of the incident. During interrogation, he told investigators that he suspected his wife of having an affair with someone else. Police believe that this suspicion was the motive behind the murder, although the investigation is still ongoing.
According to the police, Anuj earns his living by running an ice cream stall in Lucknow. He was already married and has two children from his first marriage. After divorcing his first wife, he married Sonam, and they have three children. Police said that all five children currently live with him in Lucknow. The authorities have registered a case of murder and are continuing their investigation to connect all the links related to the crime.
