In the last 24 hours, Mumbai recorded about 300 mm of rain. It also affected transportation. Local trains look derailed. Till now 34 trains had to be canceled and more than 250 flights have been affected. Schools, colleges and government offices are also closed for the third day. The BMC has appealed to the people not to pay attention to rumors and contact the helpline number 1916 if needed.

582 people evacuated

A mono rail suddenly stopped between Chembur and Bhakti Park due to heavy rains. 582 passengers stranded in it were evacuated by the fire brigade. Many passengers had difficulty in breathing, two people had to be sent to the hospital. The rain has caused havoc not only in Mumbai, but also in other districts of Maharashtra. 6 people have died due to floods and rains. 18 NDRF teams and several SDRF teams across the state are engaged in relief and rescue work. 293 people were evacuated in Nanded.
