New Delhi: Mumbai and Gurgaon witnessed two separate incidents of dangerous speeding over the weekend, both captured on camera and widely circulated on social media, prompting renewed concern among traffic authorities over reckless driving on major urban highways.
In Mumbai, the Worli police have taken a Lamborghini into custody after a video showing the luxury car being driven at an extremely high speed went viral online. The footage, uploaded a few days ago, displayed the car’s speedometer crossing 200 kmph as it raced along the Bandra Worli Sea Link. The video showed the vehicle weaving through traffic and overtaking several cars in quick succession, raising serious safety concerns on one of the city’s busiest arterial roads.
Vehicle identified by its registration plate: Police
Police officials said the car was identified through its registration number, which was clearly visible in the video. The Bandra Worli Sea Link has a designated speed limit of 80 kmph, and driving at such excessive speeds is considered a grave violation. Investigators are now verifying the ownership documents of the vehicle, along with records linked to the car dealer. Authorities said further action will depend on the outcome of these checks and whether additional violations are established during the inquiry.

Speeding Hyabusa crashes near Gurugram’s Ambience Mall
In a separate incident in Gurugram, a motorcyclist riding a high-powered Suzuki Hayabusa sustained injuries after losing control on National Highway 8 near Ambience Mall in DLF Phase 3 on Sunday morning. A helmet camera video recorded by another rider showed the superbike accelerating aggressively moments before the crash. The footage indicated that the rider was attempting to speed past another vehicle when he lost balance during a risky overtake.

According to police, the motorcyclist was thrown off the bike and rolled several times on the highway before coming to a stop. The motorcycle continued to slide across the road for several metres. The clip quickly spread across social media platforms, triggering widespread criticism over dangerous riding behaviour on the already congested Gurgaon expressway.
A patrol team reached the spot soon after the incident and rushed the injured rider to Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, where he remains under treatment. Police officials said no formal case was registered as the biker admitted to speeding and improper overtaking and chose not to lodge a complaint. Investigators added that the video footage clearly established the traffic violation.
The Swift car visible in the clip was later traced, and its driver has been identified. However, preliminary findings suggest the accident was caused by the biker’s own actions rather than any fault of the car driver.
