Kolkata Knight Riders bought him in their team by paying Rs 25 crore 20 lakh. Why will Cameron Green get only Rs 18 crore?
Cameron Green is going to get Rs 25.20 crore for playing in IPL 2026, but out of this only Rs 18 crore will go into his account. Actually, the main reason behind this is a special rule of IPL. This rule is called ‘maximum fee rule’. According to this rule, the maximum amount that any foreign player sold in the mini auction can receive is the lesser of the two.

As per this rule, the first-highest retention slab, which is Rs 18 crore for this season. Second- Highest bid in the last mega auction. Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in the auction held for IPL 2025, as he got Rs 27 crore. The lesser amount of these two is Rs 18 crore. Due to this, Green will be given only Rs 18 crore instead of Rs 25.20 crore. The remaining amount will go to BCCI’s ‘Player Welfare Fund’.

There was a fierce competition between the teams in the auction to buy this star player of Australia. The best price of Cameron Green was fixed at Rs 2 crore. First the bidding took place between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. But when Rajasthan took the edge, then Kolkata Knight Riders came in front of Chennai. In the end, Kolkata won and added this player to their team by paying a huge amount.
