Under the Yogi government’s cow welfare scheme, eco-thermal blankets, cow dung products and women’s market place have been started in Malavan Gaushala of Etah. With this, along with cow conservation, women of self-help groups will become self-reliant and earn regular income.
The cowshed which was once considered a burden on the government machinery, is today becoming a center of self-reliance, innovation and employment. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the ambitious cow welfare scheme of the Uttar Pradesh government is no longer limited to cow conservation only, but is emerging as a strong foundation of rural economy and women empowerment. Its big beginning has been started from Malavan Gaushala of Etah district, where cow service has been linked with employment and self-reliance.
Eco-thermal blanket to protect from cold
In Malavan Gaushala, special ‘eco-thermal blankets’ are being prepared from straw and gunny bags to protect mother cows from cold. These blankets are being made at low cost along with being environment friendly, thereby strengthening cow conservation. This initiative is being considered an innovative step towards making cow shelters self-reliant.

Cow dung products are becoming a source of income
Innovative products like vermi compost and ‘Go-Cast’ are being prepared from cow dung in the cowshed, which have good demand in the market. Along with this, preparations are also being made to make incense sticks, incense sticks, mementos and pots from cow dung. Due to this, along with increasing the income of the Gaushala, employment opportunities are also being created at the local level.
30 Sakhi Didis got training
Chief Development Officer of Etah, Dr. Nagendra Narayan Mishra said that under the leadership of District Magistrate Premranjan Singh, work is being done to make the cowshed a permanent source of income. Under the action plan, 30 Sakhi Didis are being trained, who will manufacture cow based products. With this, women will get a regular source of income and they will become financially empowered.
Women’s market place will be built on the national highway
A special feature of this model is that a permanent women’s market place will be developed along the national highway near Malavan Goshala. There will be direct sale of cow based products here, which will eliminate the role of middlemen and women will get full benefits of their products.
From cow service to self-reliance
Women associated with self-help groups say that this scheme is providing them regular income as well as respectable employment. She will develop it as a self-reliant cowshed model by playing an active role in cowshed operation, cleanliness, nutrition management and product manufacturing.
This initiative of Yogi government clearly indicates that cow service, innovation and employment can move forward together. With environmental protection and women empowerment, the state’s cow shelters are no longer a burden but are becoming a strong link in the rural economy.
