The video got popular and the account got 4,500 followers, lately the video posting while Trump has 110.1 million followers on his personal TikTok account, which he started during the election with his last post on 5 November 2024.
Why Some Want TikTok Banned
TikTok is owned by a Chinese parent company ByteDance. The U.S. government believes that the TikTok is a risk to national security as the app has over 170 million American users on it, and critics fear that its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, could be forced to share user data with the Chinese government. Lawmakers also worry TikTok could be used to spread misinformation or influence public opinion.
Why Others Defend TikTok
On the other side, many argue that TikTok is more than just fun videos, it’s a communication tool. While the Republican party whose 2024 election campaign relied heavily on social media, the Tik Tok helping Donald trump to gain support of young voters while he won from Kamal Harris. TikTok was supposed to be sold or banned because of a U.S. law about security, and the deadline was 20 January, one day ahead of Trump’s inauguration, however in the middle of June, for the third time Trump delayed the deadline on TikTok by 90 days to find another buyer which had to be non Chinese or the app is going to be banned in the United States. This deadline is set to run out around mid-September.
