Cyber crime in India: Is India ready to deal with the new challenges faced in cyber security and judicial process? To find the answer to this question, a three -day seminar was organized at the Uttar Pradesh Institute of Forensic Sciences (UPSIFS), which concluded on Wednesday. In the seminar, cyber and forensic experts from all over the world, including India, openly discussed future challenges and their solutions.
Why worry about China-Pakistan’s ‘offensive strategy’?
In panel discussion, experts said that the biggest threat to India’s cyber security is from the neighboring countries (China, Pakistan). In order to face their ‘offensive strategy’, India will have to prepare strong and safe digital infrastructure. He described the Cyber Kill Chain as ‘bloodbies’, that is, it is difficult to control cyber crimes without breaking it. Giving an example of cases like lockbit, it was said that agencies from 11 countries had to break this danger.

Why is real time monitoring necessary?
Maharashtra Principal Secretary Brajesh Singh said that real time mapping is the most effective way to deal with cyber crisis. He said that it is as important to secure evidence in cyber cases and maintain “chain of custody” as in forensic examination. He praised RBI’s cyber security framework and emphasized digital sovereign.
Why did the changing trends of hacking increase?
Australia’s cyber expert Robbie Abraham said that earlier cyber attacks used complex coding and networking techniques, but now hacking is becoming easier. In today’s time, hackers reach browsing data and crypto wallets in ways like phishing, ransomware. He said that regular security training, MFA competent account and antivirus are very important to prevent hacking.
How can AI change the game in forensic science?
In the seminar, forensic experts also discussed (Artificial Intelligence in Forensic Science). Giving the example of the Nirbhaya case, it was reported that complex cases can also be solved from advanced algorithm and mixed DNA analysis. AI based tools help identify the micro pattern to separate the DNA of the victim and the accused.
What will be the change in the judicial process?
Experts emphasized that judges and lawyers should also be informed about (Digital Evidence) and (Forensic Techniques). Justice is possible only when the evidence is irrefutable and investigated in a fair manner. Founding director of UPSIFS G.K. Goswami said, “Whether something guilty escapes, the innocent should not be punished.”
