Unsold Twice, Prithvi Shaw Returns To Delhi Capitals For Rs ….., Sarfaraz Khan Joins CSK

Prithvi Shaw is set to make his return to IPL as Delhi Capitals (DC) made a bid for him in the IPL 2026 mini-auction. He went unsold twice earlier during the proceedings.

His name was there in the accelerated round too and DC bid for him to sign him at his base price of Rs 75 lakh. Sarfaraz Khan, who went unsold once, is also set to make his IPL return. The right-handed batsman joined Chennai Super Kings for Rs 75 lakh. Shaw returning to DC was one of the biggest stories from the IPL 2026 mini-auction.

Prithvi Shaw’s IPL career

Prithvi Shaw kicked off his IPL career with Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2018. The Delhi-based franchise bought him for Rs 1.20 in the IPL 2018 mega-auction. He stayed with them till 2024.

Shaw scored 245 runs in IPL 2018 and followed up with 353 runs in the next season. Shaw scored 228 runs in IPL 2020. He had his best-ever IPL season in 2021 and scored 479 runs. DC retained him for Rs 7.50 crore before the IPL 2022 mega-auction. He scored 283 runs in IPL 2022.

Shaw’s form slumped over the next two years and he managed 106 and 198 runs in IPL 2023 and IPL 2024, respectively. He didn’t get a bid in the IPL 2022 mega-auction.

Prithvi Shaw’s forgettable 2024/25 season

Prithvi Saw had a forgettable 2024/25 season and he was dropped twice from the Mumbai cricket team. The opening batsman first lost his place in the initial phase of the Ranji Trophy. He made his return for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The opening batsman was once again dropped for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Since Shaw went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega-auction, his season ended early. He left the Mumbai cricket team before the 2025/26 domestic season and now plays for Maharashtra. Shaw scored 183 runs in seven matches of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He also led the team in Ruturaj Gaikwad’s absence. Maharashtra failed to qualify for the second round.
