Late night on Saturday, December 13, a fire broke out at ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ in Arpora, North Goa, when electronic firecrackers used during the dance exploded. Inflammable materials like bamboo were used extensively in building the nightclub, due to which the fire spread rapidly. According to a witness, there were at least 100 people on the dance floor when the fire broke out in the nightclub. Being a weekend, the club was packed. The entry and exit of this nightclub was very narrow, due to which it was very difficult to save people. 25 people died in the fire, including 20 staff members and 5 tourists.
