Khelo India Water Sports Festival
Dal Lake is hosting the Khelo India Water Sports Festival for the first time. This festival is being held from 21 to 23 August 2025. This is the first time that the seeds of the beautiful lake of Kashmir will be the center of the national sports. In this, more than 400 athletes from 36 states and union territories of the country will gather entertaining performance programs like water skiing, dragon boat race and Hanta sprint in which rowing, canoeing and kayaking will be gathered on the lake to compete.

The Sports Authority of India (SHTM) and Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council have been jointly organized. Which is the direct result of the ‘Khelo Bharat’ policy, the main objective of which is to promote sports at the grassroots level as well as create livelihood and strengthen local sports infrastructure. This festival will not only give financial benefits to athletes and coaches here. Rather, Hanta Independent, Houseboat Challengers and comprehensive tourism eco-system will also be beneficial.
