ICC-Shafali Verma: Whatever has happened to Shefali Verma in the last 2 months can only be called a game of luck. Luckily, she got the opportunity she was looking for and the way Shefali capitalized on that opportunity, the result is that now ICC has also recognized her talent. Shefali Verma has been chosen ICC Women’s Player of the Month for November.

Shefali Verma was not selected in Team India for the Women’s ODI World Cup. But, just before the semi-finals, Indian opener Pratika Rawal got injured and the door opened for Shefali to join Team India. Shefali joined Team India in the Beach World Cup. His bat did not work in the semi-finals, but his innings of 87 runs in 78 balls in the final played a big role in Team India’s victory.

During the innings of 87 runs in the World Cup final, Shefali along with Smriti Mandhana made a century partnership for the opening wicket. Shefali’s contribution in the final was not limited to just batting, apart from that she also did wonders with the ball. Shefali Verma bowled 7 overs in the final, taking 2 wickets while giving 36 runs, which also included the wicket of Marijne Cape.

After her amazing performance in the final, Shefali Verma had said that this was her first World Cup, which was as good as expected. Everything remained as he had planned. He is happy that his contribution helped the team win the final. She witnessed the moment when the team won the World Cup title for the first time in front of the home fans.
