Chhattisgarh has become the leader in the country in the Prime Minister Matru Vandana Yojana. In a special campaign, the state achieved first place in registration and disposal by completing 72% of the target in 9 days. Janjgir-Champa district stood first in the state.

Raipur 28 June 2026/ Chhattisgarh has registered a historic achievement and secured first position in the country in the special campaign conducted from June 15 to July 15 for the registration of pregnant and infant mothers under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. The state has achieved remarkable success by completing 72 percent of the set target in just the first 9 days of the campaign.

  • The state has not only achieved the highest position in the country in the registration of beneficiaries, but has also achieved the highest achievement in disposal of pre-registered beneficiaries, leaving all the states behind. This achievement is the result of coordinated and dedicated efforts of the Women and Child Development Department, Anganwadi workers, supervisors, field staff and all concerned stakeholders.
  • Under the special campaign, district Janjgir-Champa has performed excellently by securing first position in the entire state with 96 percent target achievement. This achievement reflects the sensitivity, activeness and effective functioning of the district towards maternal and child welfare.

What is Matri Vandana Yojana?

Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is an important maternal welfare scheme of the Government of India, which aims to provide financial support to pregnant and lactating women for nutrition, health care and safe motherhood. Under the scheme, an assistance amount of Rs 5,000 is provided to eligible women on the birth of their first living child, while an incentive amount of Rs 6,000 is given on the birth of a girl child as the second child. This scheme is playing an important role in protecting the health of women, promoting institutional delivery and ensuring better nutrition and overall development of infants.
