Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has implemented a new old age pension scheme for the elderly. Now citizens above 60 years of age will get pension directly in their bank account without application and on the basis of family ID.
In Uttar Pradesh, the Social Welfare Department has taken a big step towards making the old age pension scheme completely simple and automatic. Under the new system, now elderly people of 60 years of age or above will not have to make any application for pension. Eligibility will be determined automatically through Family ID and the pension amount will be directly transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account.
Fast implementation of new pension scheme
The Social Welfare Department has clarified that the new old age pension scheme will be implemented soon. For this, a standard procedure (SOP) will be prepared from all the districts and sent to the department within the next 20 days. The improvements made in the payment process will reduce the time taken for verification and make the entire system more transparent. Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates have been entrusted with the responsibility of Family ID based verification.
Not a single old man will be left out
Under the new system, citizens whose age is 60 years or more recorded in the family ID will automatically be included in the pension list. Along with this, names of those who are going to complete 60 years of age in the next 90 days will also be automatically added. The objective of the Social Welfare Department is that no eligible elderly person in the state should be deprived of this scheme.

Government’s commitment, safety of the elderly
Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Aseem Arun said that the government is fully committed to the economic and social security of the respected elders of the state. Schemes for the empowerment of destitute, elderly and deprived sections are being continuously made better and effective, so that the benefits are provided on time and without any hassle.
Special attention to destitute and deprived sections
A total of 1,06,17,640 beneficiaries are being given a pension of Rs 1,000 every month under the Destitute Women, Old Age and Disabled Pension Schemes in the state. Due to this, the needy are getting regular financial support. Under the National Family Benefit Scheme, financial assistance was given to 1,12,875 families in the financial year 2024-25, which provided relief to the families in times of sudden crisis.

He said that due to this initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the elderly are getting both respect and security. The new pension scheme has awakened a new hope for the future among the elders of the state.
