The country’s major airline Indigo has also issued a travel advisory regarding the weather. The airline has said that low visibility and dense fog in Delhi may affect the flight schedule. Operation under CAT III at Delhi Airport
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has said that due to dense fog, flight operations are currently being conducted under CAT III conditions. Talking about air quality, the air quality was recorded as ‘severe’ at 38 out of 40 stations in Delhi, while the situation was ‘very poor’ at two stations.
Where is Delhi’s air worst?
Jahangirpuri recorded AQI 498, the worst among all the stations in Delhi. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, AQI between 401 and 500 is classified as severe. On Sunday, Delhi’s average AQI had reached 461, which is considered to be the most polluted day of this winter and the second worst day of the month of December. Due to low wind speed and low temperature, pollutants are trapped near the ground, causing smog and fog to become denser. At the Wazirpur Air Quality Station, the AQI reached 500, which is the maximum limit that can be measured by the CPCB.
