Chandigarh: An 80 year old man from Punjab has won a land case in the court after 62 years. Punjab and Haryana High Court has ended the case by giving its verdict in favor of the elderly. Also, the opposing party has been ordered to give the land at the price of 1963 only.
What is the whole matter?
In this case the petitioner C.K. Anand’s mother Nanki Devi had purchased two plots of 350 and 217 square feet for Rs 14,000 from RC Sood & Company’s Eros Gardens Residency in Faridabad in 1963. He had also paid half the amount. But after this, due to new rules of Punjab and Haryana governments, there were obstacles and the company delayed in handing over the plot, which also created administrative hurdles.
In the 1980s, when the plot was in danger of being sold to a third party, Anand’s mother filed a case. The lower court had ruled in favor of the petitioner. Challenging this decision, the company reached the High Court in 2002. But the High Court, while giving its verdict in favor of the old man, has ordered to give the land only at the price of 1963.
