Ashadh Month 2026 Festivals: Every month has its own special significance in Sanatan Dharma. Jyeshtha month will end tomorrow i.e. on 29th June with the full moon of Jyeshtha month. After this the month of Ashadh will start. According to Hindi calendar, this is the fourth month. This month is very important for worship, chanting and donations. There is a tradition of worshiping Lord Vishnu in this month. According to Drik Panchang, this year the month of Ashadh is starting from 30th June. It is advised to follow special rules in this month.
This is considered to be the month when Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra for four months and Chaturmas begins, in which auspicious and auspicious works like marriage, house warming, Mundan Sanskar etc. are not performed. In this month, the holy Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath is taken out, in which a large number of devotees gather. This month is also special for worshiping the Goddess. Gupt Navratri is celebrated in this month. Devshayani Ekadashi falls during this time. This is the day from which Chaturmas begins. Big fasts and festivals of Ashadh
Yogini Ekadashi: There are two Ekadashis in the month of Ashadha. First Yogini and second Devshayani Ekadashi. Yogini Ekadashi fast is observed on the Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Ashadha month. Special worship of Lord Vishnu is done on this day. According to Drik Panchang, this year the fast of Yogini Ekadashi will be observed on 10th July.
Rath Yatra of Jagannath Ji: Every year, the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath starts from the second day of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month. Along with the Lord, his elder brother Balabhadra ji and sister Subhadra Devi also participate in the Rath Yatra. It is believed that the sins of many births are erased by pulling the ropes of the chariots during the Rath Yatra. This year, the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath will start from 16th July, which will conclude on 24th July.
Gupt Navratri: The month of Ashadh is also very special for worshiping the Goddess. Gupt Navratri falls in this month, in which 10 Mahavidyas are worshipped. It is believed that the worship of Mahavidyas has special significance in Gupt Navratri. According to Drik Panchang, this year Gupt Navratri of Ashadh month will start from 15th July, which will end on 23rd July.
Devshayani Ekadashi and Chaturmas start: Every year, the fast of Davashayani Ekadashi is observed on the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashadha month. According to Drik Panchang, the fast of Devshayani Ekadashi will be observed on this 25th July. With this, Lord Vishnu will go into Yoga Nidra in the underworld for four months and Chaturmas will begin. Then on November 20, on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu will wake up from Yoganidra and Chaturmas will end.
Guru Purnima: The full moon day of Ashadha month is celebrated as Guru Purnima. This day is considered to worship and honor the Gurus. According to Drik Panchang, this year Guru Purnima will be celebrated on 29th July.
