Madhya Pradesh Critical Minerals: A huge reserves of rare soil elements have been found in Singrauli of MP. The Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh will now become the center of important minerals. This discovery will make India self -sufficient in green energy, electronics and defense sector.
Bhopal News: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said that Madhya Pradesh will now become a critical mineral hub. Madhya Pradesh will also be called the capital of Critical Minerals along with energy capital. With this, India will become the leading country in global competition. India will no longer depend on countries like China due to the receiving a huge store of rare economy (REE) in Singrauli district. Union Minister of Coal and Mines Kishan Reddy had informed in Parliament that for the first time in India, such a huge amount of these rare elements have been detected. This achievement will prove to be a milestone towards making India self -sufficient in the fields of green energy, electronics and defense technology.
A big step towards making India self -reliant
Rare Earth Elements are called the basis of modern technology. Till now India has depended on China and other countries for these minerals. This discovery of Singrauli in the state will lead India to lead in global competition by freeing India from import-dependence. In the coming time, this discovery will strengthen the self -sufficient Bharat Abhiyan and will give new pace to industrial development.
‘Future Critical Mineral Hub’
Research conducted by Coal India Limited has found promising concentrations of REES (such as Scandium, Yitrium etc.) in Singrauli coal mines and rocks. Their average volume in coal is estimated at 250 ppm and about 400 ppm at non-coal level. The discovery was officially announced in July 2025. Experts believe that coal ash and overburdan can also become a secondary source of critical minerals in future.
Cooperation with IREL
Given the discovery of rare economy elements, the state government is now developing basic infrastructure for their processing and research-transmission. Recently, the delegation of the Department of Mineral Resource Resources visited the Bhopal unit of Indian Rare Earth Limited (IREL) and discussed possible cooperation. The department is exploring the possibility of setting up Center of Excellence on Rare Earth Elements, which will provide world -class basis to research, training and industry.
India towards global leadership
The treasure found in Singrauli district will make India self -sufficient in green energy, electric vehicles and high technical industries. In the coming year, Madhya Pradesh will be called the capital not only the capital but also the capital of the critical minerals. The dependence on China will end and India will be established as a powerful country on the global platform.

Use of rare economy elements
- Rare Earth Elements are used in many modern industries, it is prominent-
- Defense and Space Technology: Samrium-Cobalt and Neodiummium magnets are mandatory in high-demonstration weapons, satellite communication and defense electronics.
- Petroleum Industry: Lanthanem and serum are used to reduce emissions in automotive catalitic converters and refining.
- Permanent magnet: Neodimium-ayron-boron and Samrium-Cobalt magnets are essential for electric vehicles and wind power plants.
- Displays and light equipment: Europeium, turbium and yitrium LEDs, LCDs and flat panels are used in the display. The camera and smartphone lens are manufactured with lathenum up to 50%.
- Automobile Sector: Lathanum -based alloys are used in batteries of hybrid vehicles.
- Steel and mixture: Missionmatel (a mixture of serum, lathanem, neodium and presodemium) is useful in improving the quality of steel.
- Health sector: Gadolinium MRI scan is used as a contrast agent, while lutetium and yitrium are helpful in isotopic cancer treatment and pet imaging.
