On this day, a grand consecration of Lord Jagannath, elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra will be done with the water of 108 sacred urns. Lakhs of devotees from India and abroad reach Puri to witness this divine ritual. According to Drik Panchang, in the year 2026, the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath is going to start from Thursday, July 16, which will conclude on July 24, 2026.

What is Snan Purnima?

The Lord is bathed amidst Vedic mantras, to see which a large number of devotees are present.

According to religious tradition, Lord Jagannath is believed to get fever after Mahaabhishek. For this reason they are taken for rest for about 15 days. This period is called Anavasar. These days, God is not seen daily in the temple and special service is done to him.
