How to do Saphala Ekadashi fast and worship?
– Wake up early in the morning on Monday, December 15 and after taking bath etc., take a pledge to fast and worship with water, rice and flowers in your hand. Follow the rules of fasting throughout the day like do not lie to anyone, do not get angry. Do not bring wrong thoughts in your mind.
– Before starting the puja, collect the materials used in the puja at one place. Before any auspicious time mentioned above, clean any place in the house thoroughly and purify it by sprinkling Ganga water or cow urine.
– In the auspicious time, spread a cloth on a wooden plate at the place fixed for worship and install the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu on it. First of all, garland the Lord with flowers and also apply tilak with kumkum. Light a lamp of pure ghee.
– Keep offering things like flowers, fruits, abeer, gulal, roli etc. to God one by one. While worshiping, keep chanting Om Namah Bhagwate Vasudevaya mantra continuously in your mind. After this offer food to God. Keep basil leaves in it.
– After worshiping in this way, perform Aarti of Lord Vishnu as per the rituals and distribute the Prasad among the devotees. Follow the rules of fasting throughout the day i.e. do not eat anything. If it is not possible to do so, you can take fruits or milk at one meal.
– Do not sleep at night, sing hymns of God or chant mantras while awake. The next day i.e. Tuesday, 16th December, worship God once again in the morning and after feeding the Brahmins, send them off by giving them donations.
– After this, break the food fast yourself. In this way, the person who observes Saphala Ekadashi fast as per the rituals, there is happiness, prosperity and peace in his house. The importance of this fast was told to Arjun by Lord Shri Krishna himself.
