The video of two sadhus being brutally beaten on suspicion of being child lifters in Jaunpur went viral. The crowd remained a spectator. As soon as the video surfaced, the police took action and arrested 4 accused and the search for the rest is ongoing.

A similar scene was seen in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, where two sadhus were brutally beaten on the suspicion of being child lifters. Sticks were fired on the road, mercy was sought with folded hands, but justice was not given. The surprising thing was that the bystanders kept making videos on mobile instead of helping.
Sadhus attacked by calling them child lifters
The incident took place on Saturday afternoon near Havells showroom located at Machlishahar stop of Kotwali police station area of the city. According to the police, about half a dozen people surrounded two sadhus and started beating them, calling them child lifters. It is clearly visible in the viral video that the accused attacked both the sadhus with sticks, sticks, belts and kicks and punches.

Pleading for mercy was useless, no fear of law was shown
In the video, both the sadhus are seen with folded hands declaring themselves innocent, but it had no effect on the attackers. There was no fear of the law on the faces of the accused, but the support of the crowd. Instead of intervening, the people standing nearby kept making video of this entire incident.

Police came into action as soon as the video went viral, four accused arrested
During the fight, both the sadhus fell unconscious on the ground. After this the accused fled from the spot. Coincidentally someone posted the video of this incident on social media tagging the police. As soon as the video went viral, Jaunpur police came into action. Police reached the spot and admitted both the injured sadhus to the hospital.
Based on the statement of the sadhus and the viral video, the police have registered a case against the unknown. Four accused have been identified and arrested so far during the investigation. Police say that efforts are being made continuously to identify and arrest other accused.
SP City Ayush Srivastava said that the matter is being seriously investigated on the basis of the viral video. No one can be allowed to take law into their own hands. Strict action will be taken against the culprits.
