Popular messaging platform Whatsapp is free for all users, but now selected users are going to be shocked. Actually, users who use WhatsApp for their business are going to gain weight on their pockets.
Parent company META has announced that the billing system of WhatsApp Business is going to change completely since July 1, 2025. Till now, where a flat charge was taken for 24-hour conversation, now every sending template will have to pay different fees.
In fact, first for WhatsApp Business users, any conversation, whether business or customer, used to be fees only at the entire conversion of up to 24 hours. At the same time, now due to the new rules, every template message will be charged based on its category, area, volume and who starts talking.
Free messaging window will be applicable
META has divided business messages into three main categories- Marketing, Utility and Authentication. Of these, marketing messages are those in which a product, service or event is advertised. Apart from this, messages like order confirmation or delivery updates are considered as utility messages. Similarly, OTP or login verification comes under the purview of Authentication messages.
However, all conversions can now be charged, but some free messaging windows will still be applicable. If the customer starts the matter, the business will be allowed to send unlimited messages without any charge for the next 24 hours. Similarly, if a customer starts chat by clicking on Facebook or WhatsApp ad, then business will get the facility to send free messages for 72 hours, even if it is marketing.
Discount for these businesses also
META has also introduced volume-based discounts for business sending messages on a large scale. For example, if a business sends more than 30 lakh Authentication messages every month in India, then there will be a normal fee on 2.5 lakh messages first, but then 5 percent, 10 percent and 15 percent discount will be given in order.
Another big change is that META will not give 1000 free service messages every month as before. However, if the customer has started a conversation, the service messages sent in 24 -hour window will still be free, no matter what their number is.
