Gurinderveer Singh created history
The competition that was witnessed in this competition between the two best sprinters of the country, Gurinderveer Singh and Animesh Kujur, will be remembered for a long time in the history of Indian athletics. The battle between the two kept changing every moment to make the national record. Before the competition, Animesh Kujur, playing for Odisha, was considered the biggest contender for victory in this race with last year’s national record of 10.18 seconds.
But Gurinderveer Singh broke Animesh’s record by timing 10.17 seconds in the first semi-final heat. Gurinderveer’s happiness had not lasted even for five minutes when 22-year-old Animesh dramatically snatched back his national record by clocking 10.15 seconds in the second heat. But in the final match held on Saturday, Gurinderveer, representing Reliance Foundation, surprised everyone with his speed. He crossed the finishing line taking 0.11 seconds less than Animesh. When Gurinderveer won the race, he was about two feet ahead of Animesh.
