Indore: In Indore, fraudsters cheated a woman of Rs 29.7 lakh by trapping her in a digital arrest scam. On Friday, Crime Branch’s Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotia said, “The fraudsters duped the woman by saying that the money of a terrorist organization of Jammu and Kashmir had come into her account. They duped the woman of Rs 29,70,000. This elderly woman had recently returned to India after meeting her children in America. A case of fraud has been registered and investigation is going on.”
This incident shows the increasingly vicious methods of digital scams. Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution and verify any such claims before transferring money or sharing personal banking information.
Second major crime incident in Indore, 7 people arrested in search of men’s treasure.
In a separate incident this week, the Indore forest department arrested seven people for illegally entering a nearby forest with weapons on December 8. The accused said that they were just trying to retrieve the gold and treasure of their ancestors, which they believed was buried in the forest.
The team searched him and found that he had several weapons. These included a pistol, a cartridge and a sword, which immediately raised the suspicion of the forest department and according to DFO Pradeep Mishra, they were booked under the Wildlife (Protection) Act (WPA) 1972 and the Indian Forest Act (IFA) 1927.
Speaking to ANI, he stressed that the story of those arrested cannot be believed. He also said that due to their illegal entry into the forest at night, they had probably come to hunt wildlife.
DFO Pradeep Mishra said, “We received information from the patrol team on December 8 at around 8:30 pm about seven people roaming in the Malendi forest. The team immediately reached there and started interrogating them. They first got scared and then started making up a story of taking out their ancestors’ gold. On further investigation, we found a pistol, cartridges and a sword, which led us to believe that they were trying to hunt at night. We have registered FIR under the WFA and IFA Act for the same.” “A case has been registered under IPC.”
