Delhi Coaching Center Safety Rules: The Delhi government has taken the biggest and strictest step so far regarding the safety of lakhs of students studying in Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has clearly said that no negligence will be tolerated in the name of safety. Any coaching institute which does not follow the Mandatory Safety Norms will not be allowed to operate in Delhi. CM has given an ultimatum of 1 month to all the coaching centers to come under the rules. After this, the institutions found guilty will be sealed immediately.
There is no compromise on the safety of children – CM Rekha Gupta
Taking a tough stance against coaching centres, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, ‘It does not matter how many coaching centers there are, it only matters about the lives and safety of the children.’ Giving an ultimatum of one month, he said, ‘The coaching centers which do not have fire audit will be sealed. Action will also be taken against those who do not have safety equipment. If complete security arrangements are not found in the building, then that center will be closed. All these centers will have to fulfill all the deficiencies within a month and follow the rules. The meaning is clear – now the attitude of ‘we will see later’ will not work in Delhi. The government is in a really strict mood this time.

The CM also made it clear that based on the recommendations of the High Court Committee, the government is soon going to bring a strong regulatory law, so that the students can get a safe environment.

Taking a very good initiative, the Chief Minister has directly sought help from the students. He said, ‘If you feel that your coaching center is not safe, whether there is a lack of fire exits, emergency exits remain closed, or any other danger is seen in the building, then you can complain directly. For this, convey your views directly to me through message, mail or phone call. The government has promised that if complaints are received, strict action will be taken, the center may even be sealed. So if any coaching center around you is ignoring the safety norms, then do not remain silent, raise your voice.

Special attention on Mukherjee Nagar, Rajendra Nagar and Katwaria Sarai
Earlier on Thursday, June 25, Education Minister Ashish Sood said that the Delhi government has made the Municipal Corporation (MCD) the nodal agency for this entire action. The government is going to conduct large-scale fire audit and safety inspections in major coaching hubs of Delhi like Mukherjee Nagar, Old Rajinder Nagar and Katwaria Sarai within the next one month. He told that about 923 coaching centers are running in Delhi and all of them have to be investigated.
Why is there so much strictness on the coaching of Delhi?
On June 22, 2026, a massive fire broke out in a coaching center in Aliganj area of Lucknow. This center was running on top of a commercial building. The fire spread so fast that children started jumping from the roof to escape, many people got trapped inside. 15 people lost their lives in this accident. After this accident, governments across the country became alert and Delhi government has also decided to take a big step on this.
