CJI Br Gavai on Delhi Rain: The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court has commented on the rainy situation in Delhi. During the hearing, he has given a statement about the traffic jam.

CJI Br Gavai on Delhi Rain: Supreme Court Chief Justice BR Gavai made a big comment on Monday on the rainy situation in Delhi. He said that if it rains for two hours, then the entire city gets paralyzed. The Chief Justice also described the traffic jam and the poor condition of the road as a serious issue.

Questions raised on jam for 12 hours

The Supreme Court questioned the jam for 12 hours during the hearing of a toll plaza case of NH 544 in Thrissur district of Kerala. The court asked that if it takes 12 hours for a person to go from one end of the road to the other, then why should he give a toll. In fact, the High Court suspended the toll recovery due to the poor condition of the highway. After this, NHAI challenged this in the Supreme Court.

Referred to long traffic jam

During the hearing, a bench of Justice Vinod Chandran and Justice NV Anjaria with CJI BR Gavai repeatedly mentioned the long traffic jam on the highway last week. Justice Chandran said that a lorry fell into the pit and overturned, causing the jam to increase further.

Delhi’s comment on rain

During the Supreme Court hearing, SG Tushar Mehta presented a video in the court showing the road situation. On this, CJI BR Gawai said that the situation becomes even more serious during the monsoon in the coastal area. The lawyer appearing in the case gave the example of the Supreme Court’s e-Gate and said that there is always traffic here and the lawyers take hours to reach the court. On this, CJI Gawai commented that Delhi’s situation is worse. If it rains for two hours, the whole city is stalled.

However, the Supreme Court reserved its decision in the Kerala case. On August 14, the Supreme Court refused to intervene in the order to postpone the toll recovery of the Kerala High Court at Paliakkara toll plaza in Thrissur district.
