Indira Gandhi International Airport, located in the country’s capital Delhi, has joined the special club of 6 airports in the world. Delhi’s airport has the capacity to handle 100 million or more than 100 million passengers every year. The special thing is that the capacity of the airport has reached 109 million passengers. According to data from the official airline guide and airport operators, Delhi’s airport is at number four out of these 6 airports in the world.
After Terminal 1 is fully operational in May 2023, it has been achieved in the achievement. The special thing is that after Tokyo Haneda, the second airport of IGI Asia which is included in this list. This airport operates Delhi International Airport Limited. To further expand the overall capacity of the Delhi Airport, the reconstruction and modernization plan of Terminal 2 is also being considered.
Contribution of these schemes
According to an official report released last month, there has been a significant change in the Indian aviation industry in the last 11 years. 88 airports ready in 10 years

Since the onset of the program, the 637 RCS route – including 15 helloports and two water aerodromes – have been operational, which adds 92 low -service and low -service airports. These budget flights have traveled more than 1.51 crore passengers.
Speaking at the conference of ministers of Northern Region last month, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu announced that 88 new airports have been built in only ten years in the country, that is, a new airport and more than 60 flights every hour every 40 days.
The minister claims that the flight in India is now more accessible, accessible and economical. Naidu reiterated the ministry’s commitment to cooperative, state-specific strategies to achieve inclusive aviation growth and said that the Indian sky under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is more connected, competitive and cooperative.
