Tamil cinema’s veteran actor, director, writer and screenplay master K. Bhagyaraj died at the age of 73. According to initial information, he suffered a heart attack, after which he breathed his last in a hospital in Chennai. Bhagyaraj was not just an actor but also a filmmaker who redefined family films in the 1980s and 90s. He directed more than 25 films and acted in more than 75 films. Not only this, he also worked with Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor. There is a wave of mourning in the entire film industry due to his demise.

Actor and director K. Bhagyaraj died on Saturday (June 27) in Chennai. According to initial reports, he had suffered a heart attack. His death has been confirmed by Apollo Hospital. Official information related to the funeral is awaited. Bhagyaraj is survived by his wife actress Purnima Bhagyaraj, son actor Shantanu Bhagyaraj and daughter Saranya Bhagyaraj.

Of. Bhagyaraj was born in Erode district of Tamil Nadu. He started his film career as an assistant to the famous director Bharathiraja. He worked as an assistant director in films like ’16 Vayathinile’ and ‘Kizhakke Pogum Rail’. After this, he also wrote the story and screenplay of films like ‘Kizhakke Pogum Rail’ (1978) and ‘Tik Tik Tik’ (1981). In the year 1979, he entered the world of direction with ‘Suvarilladha Chitrangal’, while his debut as a hero was with ‘Puthiya Varpugal’.
