U19 Asia Cup: UAE demolished by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s century, Team India won the first match by 234 runs

How can this happen that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has a stormy innings and then the team does not win? The same trend continued in the first match of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025, where Vaibhav Suryavanshi hit sixes and fours with his bat in the very first match of the tournament and the Indian team won. In this match played in Dubai, the Indian Under-19 team batted first and scored a huge score of 433 runs on the basis of Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 171 runs. In response, the host UAE team could score only 199 runs in 50 overs. In this way, captain Ayush Mhatre’s team won by a huge margin of 234 runs.

This match was played between India and UAE on Friday 12 December at the ICC Academy in Dubai. The havoc of Vaibhav’s bat was also seen in this tournament being played in ODI format. The 14-year-old young batsman batted with some caution after coming to the crease but did not take too long in opening his hands. After completing his half-century in just 30 balls, Vaibhav also scored a century in 56 balls. Vaibhav’s attack continued even after his century and he played a memorable inning of 171 runs in just 95 balls.

Vaibhav had a chance to score a double century but he missed it. The young left-handed opener hit 14 sixes and 9 fours in his innings. Apart from Vaibhav, Aaron George and Vihaan Malhotra also scored half-centuries, while on the basis of stormy innings of wicketkeeper Abhigyan Kundu and spin all-rounder Kanishk Chauhan, India scored 433 runs losing 6 wickets.

In response, UAE’s situation remained bad from the beginning and its 6 wickets fell only for 53 runs. However, after this there was a long partnership between Prithvi Madhu and Udish Suri. Both of them added only 85 runs but kept India searching for wickets for 24 overs. After Prithvi’s dismissal, Suri made an unbeaten partnership of 61 runs with Saleh Amin and did not let the team get all out. However, UAE could score only 199 runs after losing 7 wickets.

India’s next match is now against Pakistan on Sunday 14th December, which defeated Malaysia by a huge margin of 297 runs in its first match. Pakistan batted first in this match and scored 345 runs thanks to opener Sameer Minhas’ 177 runs. But in response, the entire Malaysian team collapsed for just 48 runs and Pakistan started with victory.
